TPI Solutions Ink Winner in New England Regional
Printing Awards of Excellence Competition

The Printing Industries of New England (PINE) has announced that TPI Solutions Ink of Waltham, MA is an award winner in the Association’s New England regional Awards of Excellence Competition. The announcement was made November 15th during PINE’s 2011 Industry Awards Gala, held at the Newton Marriott in Newton, MA, with hundreds of industry professionals in attendance. PINE’s Awards of Excellence Competition,  attracted over  200 entries from 30 printing and imaging companies  across New England competing in a variety of printing and graphic communications categories such as best annual report, direct mail campaign, corporate identity package, and more.

TPI Solutions Ink won two Pinnacle Awards (Best of Category), an Award of Recognition, and an Award of Merit. A panel of judges with extensive experience in printing and print production, were brought in to examine the wide range of work submitted. Each entry was judged anonymously on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging criteria included: registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery.

PINE’s Awards of Excellence Competition,  attracted over  200 entries from 35 printing and imaging companies  across New England competing in a variety of printing and graphic communications categories such as best annual report, direct mail campaign, corporate identity package, and more.

Tim Burton, Burton & Mayer, Menomonee Falls, WI; Paul Schmitz, Schmitz Press, Sparks, MD; and Art Stowe, former president of the Printing & Graphics Association Mid Atlantic. Each entry was judged anonymously on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging criteria included: registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery.

Waltham, MA - September 23, 2009 - TPI Solutions Ink of Waltham, MA was awarded a Benny, the highest honor in the 2009 Premier Print Awards, for their entry "A Legacy of Innovation" Tribute Book and Program.

The Premier Print Awards, the graphic arts industry's largest and most prestigious worldwide printing competition, recognizes outstanding achievement in print production. TPI received their "Benny" for a Digital Print - Campaign.

The Premier Print Awards are the printing industry's oldest and largest worldwide graphic arts competition, hosted by Printing Industries of America. In its 60th year, the annual contest recognizes those responsible for the creation and production of superior print communications. The event promotes excellence in print communications and rewards companies and individuals who produce the very best in print media.

This year, over 3,600 entries were received from printing and graphic arts firms from around the world, and judges awarded the Benny to the top entry in each category. "We are excited to be awarded the Benny," said James Spurrell, president of TPI Solutions Ink. "It's an honor to be recognized by the industry as a company that produces award-winning print solutions."

Michael Makin, president and CEO of Printing industries of America, agrees. "The Benny winners represent the best our industry has to offer. This year's entries were outstanding. There were entries from companies in 14 countries. Despite the fierce competition, TPI, through hard work and dedicated craftsmanship, produced a piece worthy of the Benny."

TPI received their Benny at the Premier Print Gala, which honors all the companies that had the top award conferred upon them. The 2009 Gala took place on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown, Magnificent Mile, Chicago, IL.
